TOSEE Art Competition

Six times a year, TOSEE Art Gallery opens its doors to artists from around the world with a single invitation: interpret a theme, and show us something we have never seen before.

Our competitions are juried, international, and open to all media. We believe that art prizes should celebrate genuine artistic vision, not just technical skill. The TOSEE Art Prize is a curated selection process based on artistic strength, originality, and engagement with the theme. Every submission is reviewed with care, and every finalist is chosen because their work said something that needed to be said.

Winners receive a prize package including gallery representation, and a permanent place in the TOSEE community. And at the end of each year, all winning and distinguished artists are invited into a final celebration: the TOSEE Artist of the Year Award, our highest recognition.

But beyond the prizes, we hope every artist who takes part leaves with something harder to measure: the knowledge that their work was truly seen.

TOSEE Art Competition: Animal Presence

  • Felicia Feldman - Shelter

    WINNER

    A French Bulldog at rest, rendered with extraordinary tenderness. In Shelter, Felicia captures the quiet trust between animal and human, the soft weight of a body completely at ease. Still, warm, and painted with a sensitivity that reminds us how much is said without a single word.

  • Ouma Bel H - Wild Beneath

    TOSEE Distinction

    Tiger stripes painted across skin, a figure curled inward, a paintbrush still in the frame. Wild Beneath asks what we contain and what contains us. Ouma's hyperrealistic oil painting blurs the line between human and animal until that line no longer feels necessary.

  • VERAMINA - Tension

    TOSEE Distinction

    Three Sphynx kittens mid-tumble, paws locked, eyes wide. Tension is pure kinetic energy on canvas, painted with precision that somehow preserves every ounce of chaos. Veramina finds the moment just before everything shifts, and holds it perfectly still.

  • Alek Ferrari - Simple Imitations

    FINALIST

    A parrot perches before its own botanical portrait. In Simple Imitations, Alek builds a quiet loop of observation and representation, the living creature and the painted one studying each other across centuries of natural history. Playful, layered, and sharply intelligent.

  • Delphine Di Maria - Paris de Nuit

    FINALIST

    A crocodile rendered in meticulous ink, ancient and utterly unhurried in the Parisian night. Paris de Nuit is a work of extraordinary patience, every scale a deliberate mark, every shadow earned. Delphine gives the city back to its wildest, oldest presence.

  • Dominique Hoffer - Chronique d'une disparition annoncée

    FINALIST

    A rhinoceros half-hidden in lush foliage, a human figure draped across its back, a thread pulled taut from somewhere above. Chronique d'une disparition annoncée is a painting about loss that has already been decided. Dominique holds grief and beauty in the same breath.

  • Hiroko Maekawa - Cat, where is your body?

    FINALIST

    Somewhere in the swirl of colour there is a cat. Cat, where is your body? dissolves the animal into pure sensation, a burst of brushwork that captures not the form but the feeling of a creature that was just there, and now is everywhere. Hiroko paints presence as much as portrait.

  • Tania Gottraux - Tartaruga marina

    FINALIST

    A bronze sea turtle carries coral, branches and sea life across its shell, an entire ecosystem in motion. Tartaruga marina is sculpture as ecosystem, ancient creature and fragile world bound together. Tania reminds us that some animals do not just inhabit the earth. They carry it.

  • Seidana Akunova - Bonds of Obedience

    WINNER

    A figure suspended between worlds, threads pulling from every direction, Seidana's haunting graphite work stopped us in our tracks. Bonds of Obedience speaks to control, surrender, and the invisible forces that shape a life. We are so proud to announce it as the winner of our Shifting Horizons competition.

  • Robyn Daly - The Chemistry of Me

    FINALIST

    Motion blur as self-portrait. Robyn uses long exposure to dissolve the body into pure feeling, a firelit figure caught between presence and disappearance. Vulnerable, visceral, and completely unforgettable.

  • Luis Tiago Marques - Nuvem

    FINALIST

    Wave or cloud? Sky or sea? Nuvem, Portuguese for "cloud" dissolves the boundary between elements in mesmerising flowing lines of cobalt and cream. Luis invites us to get lost in the in-between.

  • Waldemar Tłuczek - Horizons of History

    FINALIST

    Mythology, memory, and a sphinx-like cat at the water's edge. Waldemar builds a dreamworld steeped in allegory, where a robed figure holds entire seascapes within her cloak. Horizons of History is rich, layered, and utterly transporting.

  • Aliaksandra Goger - The Last Spark

    FINALIST

    Wilting blooms on black. Aliaksandra captures that bittersweet moment when beauty is fading but hasn't yet let go, raw, luminous, and deeply alive. The Last Spark reminds us that endings hold their own kind of grace.

    One hand flesh, one hand blue. Sarah-Kate paints the self as something split, caught between what is felt and what is shown. Inner Dichotomy is bold, striking, and achingly human.
